Standby and prime ratings
The standby rating (55 kVA) is what the set delivers during a grid outage, for a limited number of hours a year and without sustained overload. The prime rating (PRP) allows continuous duty with varying load. Sizing starts from the real load in kW, corrected by power factor, with headroom left for motor starting.

Standby is the power available in an emergency, limited to a set number of hours a year; prime is what the set can sustain continuously with varying load. A set sized for standby should not be used as prime generation without re-checking the duty.
