Solenoid C5304951 is an electromagnetic actuator of the stop circuit: it turns an electrical signal into the movement that opens or closes the fuel passage.
Before replacing, measure voltage at the connector during crank and during stop. A solenoid that sees 24 V and does not move the plunger is burnt; one that sees no voltage points to a fuse or the controller.

How to verify before ordering
- Match reference, coil voltage (12 V or 24 V) and mounting type (threaded or flange).
- Check whether the solenoid is two- or three-wire: three-wire units carry a hold-in coil and will not accept a two-wire replacement.
- Inspect plunger and return spring in the shutoff mechanism: a bent plunger destroys a new solenoid within a few cycles.
- Declared make or line: CUMMINS. If your equipment carries another make, the part may not be equivalent.
Frequently asked questions
The engine will not stop on the key. Is it the solenoid?
Often, but confirm the signal first: if no voltage reaches the connector when you switch off, the fault is in the controller or the wiring, not the solenoid.
Can I run with the solenoid bridged?
Only as a test and for minutes: bridged, the engine cannot be stopped on the key. Never leave it that way on a set in service.
